Northwest Territories

Stopped at Fort Nelson for 2 nights to take a quick drive up to Fort Liard in the Northwest Territories.
We stayed at Triple G nice camp ground cool restaurant with horse saddle stools.

This would be an amazing drive with a car, we only went to the first little town Fort Liard.  This town had a motel,  general store, grocery store and an information center.  It really is not set up for tourism, maybe in time.  Many of the houses are boarded up, we wanted to stop by the information center again on the way out but it was closed.

Great road the best so far, it was paved last year there is 30 km of gravel road going into Fort Liard.

Wooden bridge

Interesting especially the bullet holes

same bridge from the side

Cool picnic table out of stone

vegetation there but trees are small

NWT sign going in

the gravel road in good shape

The wood bison are everywhere

On the beach in Fort Liard NWT

and guess what?  that brown patch is a wood bison

After this shot we were in the car, camera ready but .... forgot to take off the timer and a lynx walked on the side of the road :(

Bear!

If you look really closely you will see a green glow in the sky, that is as close as we came to seeing the Northern lights, not that we didn't try.
