Seward Kenai Fjords National Park boat cruise

5 hours cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park

Size of park:  650, 000acres

Resurrection Bay depth 900ft  was created from he glaciers that come from the Harding Icefield. The fjord(the bay) is a glacial valley that has been filled by sea water.

Is he sick? No just checking out the bow

Three glaciers, there are 35 named glaciers in the park

Valley glaciers flow down from the mountains but their terminus is above the sea level.

Bowl shaped called Cirque glaciers

Piedmont glaciers flow down onto a flat, open plain and from an aerial view are spoon-shaped.  Not really sure if this is a Piedmont glacier.

Glaciers form when more snow falls in the winter than melts in the summer, a glacier is classified as metamorphic rock.  When the accumulation of ice becomes so great that the force of gravity causes it to move, a glacier is born. (info Seward Wildlife cruises brochure)

A thirteen year old designed the flag, it has the big dipper (great bear constellation) and the Northern Star

Observation point this small enclosure had lights in it and would shine on the ships during the wars, all ships had to identify themselves as they entered the Fjord.

Two kayaks

A few 5 acre lots were sold in the 1970, here is a cottage that was featured on tv.

The ship pulls right close to the rock and the water drips onto the bow of the boat, Sabrina got under it for a little shower.

Working on being a junior ranger :)

That white dot is a mountain goat not sure if that counts as seeing one.
